Electrak LA24 is designed for applications where a robust electric linear actuator with AC motor operation is required. It is suitable for industrial mechanisms that need reliable extension and retraction, stable construction and practical mounting options.

The actuator can be configured with either an Acme screw or a ball screw drive. Acme screw models are useful when self-locking behavior is required, while ball screw models provide higher load capacity and improved efficiency for more demanding applications.

When to choose Electrak LA24?

Electrak LA24 should be selected when the application requires a rugged AC actuator for industrial pushing, pulling, lifting or positioning tasks. It is a good choice when the machine already uses AC power and when a mechanically strong actuator is required for intermittent operation.

Acme screw or ball screw version?

Electrak LA24 is available with both Acme screw and ball screw drive options. Acme screw versions are typically selected when simple, robust operation and self-locking behavior are important. They are suitable for applications where load holding without continuous motor power is useful.

Ball screw versions are selected when higher dynamic load capacity, better efficiency or faster full-load movement is required. Ball screw models can also include a holding brake, which is important when the actuator must securely hold a load in position.

Mounting, feedback and protection options

The aluminium cover tube includes T-slots that allow position sensors to be mounted along the actuator body. This is useful when the control system needs position indication or external limit information. Depending on the configuration, potentiometer feedback can also be used when position information is required.

The actuator includes an anti-rotation mechanism, overload clutch and automatic reset thermal motor overload protection. These features help protect the actuator and the machine in demanding industrial applications. Optional manual override can be considered when movement is required in case of power failure.

Electrak LA24 or DC actuator series?

Electrak LA24 is an AC actuator and is suitable when the machine architecture uses AC power or when a rugged industrial AC actuator is preferred. If the application uses 12, 24 or 36 VDC power, another Thomson actuator series such as Electrak 1, Electrak LA14, Electrak MD, Electrak HD or Electrak XD may be more suitable.

For lighter DC-powered applications, Electrak 1 or LA14 may be enough. For smarter control, higher protection class, CAN communication or higher force, Electrak MD, HD or XD should be considered. The correct choice depends on load, stroke, speed, duty cycle, voltage, control requirements and operating environment.
