Thomson Electrak 1 Electric Linear Actuator

Thomson Electrak 1 is a compact electric linear actuator designed for light-duty linear motion tasks where short stroke, small size and reliable operation are required. It is suitable for lifting, positioning, sorting, opening, closing and adjustment applications in industrial, mobile and auxiliary systems.

Electrak 1 is a self-contained and sealed actuator for indoor and outdoor use. It can be used as an electric alternative to small pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders in intermittent-duty applications where simple DC operation, compact installation and consistent repeatable motion are important.

Inobalt helps select the correct Electrak 1 or Electrak 1SP configuration according to load, stroke, speed, voltage, feedback requirement, mounting conditions, operating environment and integration with the machine control system.

Compact electric actuator for light-duty linear motion

Electrak 1 is designed for applications where the required linear motion is relatively short and the load is moderate. It is a practical solution when a machine or mechanism needs simple electric extension and retraction without the complexity of pneumatic or hydraulic systems.

The actuator is fully self-contained, sealed and maintenance-free, making it suitable for many compact mechanical designs. Its corrosion-resistant housing, Acme screw drive and clevis mounting make it easy to integrate into small industrial mechanisms, mobile equipment and auxiliary positioning systems.

Main features of Thomson Electrak 1

  • Dynamic load capacity up to 340 N for light-duty pushing and pulling tasks.
  • Static load capacity up to 1300 N for holding force when the actuator is not moving.
  • Stroke length up to 150 mm for compact short-travel applications.
  • No-load speed up to 75 mm/s for fast movement under low load.
  • Full-load speed up to 52 mm/s depending on model and load conditions.
  • 12, 24 or 36 VDC motor options for simple DC-powered systems.
  • 25% full-load duty cycle for intermittent-duty applications.
  • Self-locking Acme screw drive for simple and robust mechanical operation.
  • IP65 protection for sealed indoor and outdoor use.
  • Electrak 1SP version with 10 kΩ potentiometer feedback for applications requiring position feedback.

When to choose Electrak 1?

Electrak 1 should be selected when the application requires a compact, reliable and simple electric actuator for moderate loads and short strokes. It is best suited for intermittent operation rather than high-duty-cycle continuous movement.

  • small lifting, opening and closing mechanisms;
  • adjustment systems in industrial equipment;
  • sorting, positioning and light automation tasks;
  • mobile equipment auxiliary functions;
  • replacement of small pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders;
  • applications where compact size and simple DC wiring are important;
  • mechanisms requiring optional potentiometer position feedback.

Electrak 1 or Electrak LA14 / LA24?

Electrak 1 is suitable for simple, compact and light-duty applications where the stroke and load requirements are moderate. It is a good choice when the application needs a basic sealed DC actuator with reliable intermittent operation.

Electrak LA14 or LA24 may be more suitable when the application requires a different mechanical format, higher performance, more configuration options or a more modern actuator platform. For more demanding applications, Electrak MD, Electrak HD or Electrak XD should be considered.

Feedback and Electrak 1SP version

The standard Electrak 1 is intended for simple extend and retract operation. When position feedback is required, the Electrak 1SP version can be used with potentiometer feedback. This allows the control system to monitor actuator position and use the actuator in applications where position indication or basic feedback control is required.

When selecting between Electrak 1 and Electrak 1SP, it is important to define whether the system only needs end-position movement or whether intermediate position information is required.

Application and selection considerations

Correct actuator selection should not be based only on maximum force. The real application must be evaluated according to load direction, stroke, duty cycle, speed, voltage, mounting geometry, environmental conditions and whether feedback is required.

Side loads should be avoided, and the actuator should be mounted so that the force is aligned with the actuator axis. For outdoor or humid environments, cable routing, connector protection and mechanical sealing should also be considered during installation.

How Inobalt helps select Electrak 1

Inobalt helps customers select the correct Thomson Electrak 1 actuator and compare it with other Thomson electric actuator series. We evaluate the required load, stroke, speed, duty cycle, voltage, feedback requirement and mounting conditions to decide whether Electrak 1 is the right solution.

If your application requires higher load, longer stroke, smarter control, synchronization or heavy-duty environmental protection, we can help compare Electrak 1 with Electrak LA14, LA24, MD, HD, XD or other Thomson actuator families.
